WHY
This training will deepen your understanding of Katonah Yoga’s central metaphors and practices. The primary goal is to embody your own practice with recipes for joy in asana and pranayama. The secondary goal is to become competent in the adjustments, diagnostics, and philosophy of this therapeutic practice in order to guide others towards rich embodiment.
HOW
The 15 hours of study and practice offer an opportunity to dive deeply into the Katonah Yoga material for the first time, or to continue and intensify your studies and gain competency with technical hands-on adjustments. Katonah Yoga articulates a philosophy of the body that is formal and informative. Alignment focused and theory forward, this hands-on-training will give students new insights into becoming well adjusted and well informed. For students and teachers alike.
WHAT
Topics that will be covered:
KATONAH YOGA® was founded by Nevine Michaan, and is a Hatha yoga practice refined over forty years, blended with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology and imagination. For more information, please visit katonahyoga.com.
ACCREDITATION
The 15 training hours can be accredited as Continuing Education at Yoga Alliance (YACEP) and banked towards a Katonah Yoga certification.

- Maps and materials: Katonah Yoga’s charts including the Magic Square
- Subtle body techniques and “Wraps for Rapture”
- Principles and geometry of alignment in yoga poses
- Body readings/diagnostics: understanding “The Body as a House”
- Hands-on adjustments; orientating the body
- Modifications for injuries, elders / sensitive students
- Tuning the instrument, teaching the private student
